Working From Home? Patch to Protect

Earlier this week GCA launched the Work From Home Campaign. We know that everyone is under stress – trying to understand and operate in the “new normal” of having to stay home, work from home, and care for family. These are not easy times.

If you run a business, the pressure is increased – keeping your business running and perhaps dealing with a remote workforce that was in the office just a week or two ago. Unfortunately, the newly remote workforce also offers up a prime breeding ground for a different type of epidemic: cybercrime. The good news is, there are things you can do to improve the security of your business in this new environment. Let’s take it a step at a time; we’ve identified some of the relatively easy things you can have your employees do and provided some guidance and resources to help.

First, start with updating systems. The regular updates for operating systems and applications often contain important security updates. Keeping devices – computers, tablets, phones, routers, and other devices – up to date with the latest patches is an important, and relatively easy, way to keep your systems and data more secure. Turning on automatic updates only takes a few minutes and makes the process even easier.
